18-Year-Old Boy Still Missing; Police Believe He is Alive

Crystal Lake Police said they have reason to believe that Adrian Salazar is alive but may not want to be found.

Crystal Lake Police are still seeking information on the missing 18-year-old Adrian Salazar.

“At this point, we have no inication at all that he has done harm to himself,” Crystal Lake Police Commander Dan Dziewior said. “The leads we have had up to this point say he is very much alive.

Salazar left his home late in the evening on March 1 after leaving messages with friends via social media that he was despondent, police reported. A gun is also missing from the home.

“As these cases go, the initial shock and urgency wear off, especially when these folks don’t want to be found,” Dziewior said. “We bring in dozens, I mean dozens of people from the community to interview.”

Despite the lockdown on the first day, Dziewior said Crystal Lake Police do not believe Salazar is a threat.

“We heard nothing that makes us believe he is a threat to the community,” Dziewior said. “If people truly wish to assist him they should report his whereabouts to authorities so he can get the help he needs.”

Any information on Andre Salazar should be directed to Crystal Lake Police at 815-356-3741.
