2021 Santa Run: Volunteers Needed For Rotary Club's Annual Race
Officials need 60 Corner Marshalls to ensure runners stay en route and monitor traffic during the race, which will take place on Dec. 4.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Rotary Club of Arlington Heights will once again host its Santa Run this year, and officials are looking for volunteers to monitor traffic during the race.
The Santa Run will take place on Saturday, Dec. 4, and the Rotary Club is looking for Corner Marshalls to help make sure runners stay on the route and to monitor traffic, officials said in an email.
Anyone interested can sign up to volunteer here. Volunteers should check in between 8:30 and 9 a.m. the day of the race at the Metropolis Ballroom, where they will receive their corner assignment, instructions and traffic vest.

Officials called the race an "easy and a festive intro to the holidays," and said some people dress in costumes or bring Cowbells or holiday music to cheer on the runners.
"This is the largest annual fundraiser our Club has which enables us to fund community grants in the Arlington Heights area and other important community projects around the world," Ron Gerlach of the Rotary Club said.
Students 16 and older can be Corner Marshalls if they're accompanied by an adult, and they can earn service hours for doing so, officials said.
"Please consider helping us with this fun holiday event which enables our Club to make a difference in our local community and beyond," Gerlach said.
