AHML Programs Manager Joins Library Association Board
Starting July 1, Christina Stoll will be one of the newest directors-at-large on the Illinois Library Association board. She is currently the progams manager at Arlington Heights Memorial Library.

Arlington Heights Memorial Library (AHML) Programs Manager Christina Stoll is eagerly anticipating her new role as Director-at-Large on the Illinois Library Association (ILA) board.
Stoll, who has worked at AHML since July of 2011, says she looks at the opportunity as a way to give back to the library profession which she has been involved with since high school.
“I developed my professional identity by working in the library profession. I am looking forward to connecting more with the membership, as a way to give back,” Stoll said.

As Programs Manager at AHML, Stoll says she has observed a number of changes over the years, in the way people use libraries.
"There are those who learn by coming in and listening to a speaker on a topic, but we are discovering others who want to come in and create, add in content and become the teachers themselves, all under what is being labeled ‘The Maker Movement’,” Stoll said.

Stoll authored an article on the topic for the April issue of the Illinois Library's Association's publication, Reporter, which can be read here.
“Another goal is to learn even more about the needs of the Illinois Library Association community, by working with fellow board members,” Stoll said. “I’m interested in getting involved in a leadership forum to provide mentoring to younger people to help further their library careers, as well.”
Stoll said her ultimate goal is to be a conduit in connecting people to information they need, to succeed.
“I have found success in doing that throughout my career, and am hopeful to bring that strength to the association, to help bring about more solutions and success,” Stoll said.
Stoll’s three-year term begins July 1.
