Criminal Damage to Property
Two tubes of grey silicone sealant were thrown on the side of a building at 101 N. Arlington Heights Rd. sometime between June 15 at 8 p.m. and June 16 at 8 a.m.

The driver’s side and the trunk of a gold 2006 Toyota Corolla parked in a parking lot in the 200 block of W. Miner St. was scratched by unknown offender(s) sometime between June 11 at 2 p.m. and June 12 at 9:40 a.m. Damage estimates were not immediately available.
Theft

A wallet was taken from Camelot Park pool, 1005 E. Suffield, June 16 sometime between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The victim had hidden the wallet under a t-shirt and placed it on top of a chair on the south deck of the pool. The wallet ($30) had $200 in cash inside of it, in addition to a driver’s license and credit cards.
A girl’s 24-inch, 4-speed black bicycle ($50) was taken by unknown offender(s) in the 1500 block of N. Kasper on June 15 between 6 p.m. and 6:26 p.m. The bicycle was unsecured and in the residential driveway at the time it was taken.
A black Apple iPhone ($400) was taken at Pioneer Park, 500 S. Hernandez Ave., by unknown offender(s) on June 13 at 6:30 p.m. The victim reported the theft on June 15, and said at 5:30 p.m. he put his phone and car keys down on a picnic table while he went to play basketball at the park. When he returned, the phone was gone.
A purse was stolen at First Presbyterian Church, 302 N. Dunton Ave. on June 12 between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. While the 70-year-old victim was speaking to a church group, she set down her purse in a pew in the church. She then left the church area and when she came back to retrieve her purse, it was gone. The purse is described as a large copper colored faux leather material shoulder bag ($100) and inside the purse was a red wallet made of Moroccan leather ($100), $300 in cash, credit cards and a check book in addition to a Sanyo cell phone ($100).
Motor Vehicle Theft
A grey 1999 Chevy Malibu 4-door was stolen while it was parking in a parking lot in the 2100 block of S. Goebbert Rd. sometime between June 16 at 10 p.m. and June 17 at 6 a.m. The victim says he parked the vehicle at 10 p.m. on June 16, and could not find it when he want to retrieve it the next morning.
Residential Burglary
A coin collection, and a couple’s wedding and engagement rings were taken from a garage in the 4200 bloc of N. Walnut Ave. sometime between June 13 at 10 a.m. and June 16 at 7 a.m. The owner of the single family residents said he had three shoeboxes containing one gold coin ($1,500), 100 other coins, which were mostly silver dollars ($15,000) his wedding band and his wife’s wedding band, along with her diamond and ruby engagement ring ($3,500). The victim told police he had contractors in and out of the house who stored equipment in his garage, and he may have left his front door unlocked at one point.
Vehicle Burglary
The front passenger side window of a silver 2009 Hyundai Sonata parked in the 1500 block of S. Yale Ave. was broken by unknown offender(s) sometime between June 13 at 9 p.m. and June 14 at 6 a.m. Â Once the offender(s) were inside the vehicle, they took the in-dash radio, a Bluetooth Roadster, a speaker phone ($100) navigation system, XM Radio with CD player and a climate control system. The time around that unit and the gear shift knob also were taken. The victim told police he found the a gate open that is normally locked which leads into his backyard. A neighbor also reported seeing a shorter white male wearing shorts and a sweatshirt in the yard, which he believed to be the owner, at 12:15 a.m. on June 14. Estimates on the total loss were not immediately available.
Retail Theft
A bottle of Chanel Bleu men’s after shave ($50) was taken from Ulta Beauty Supply, 456 E. Rand Rd. on June 13 at 10:07 a.m. Employees of the store described the offender as a black male, 45 years of age, standing 5 foot 10 inches tall, and weighing 175 pounds. He was reportedly wearing a black baseball hat, a blue windbreaker with a DePaul Unviersity logo, blue jean shorts and black gym shoes. He also was unshaven and had a noticeable gap between his two front teeth, employees said. The man was seen removing the bottle from the packaging and placing it in his pocket. When he was confronted by the manager, he ran away and got into a gold colored Dodge Durango.Â
