Established in 2011, Active Care Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, LTD (ACCR) staffed by Dr. John D. Cress and Dr. Amanda M. Karm, has a mission of being a fully integrated healthcare practice with the goal of helping patients of all ages reach their highest level of function - without the use of prescription pharmaceuticals or surgery.

Dr. Cress hails from Virginia and first became interested in studying chiropractic medicine after receiving chiropractic care from his own back injury. He holds a Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine from the National University of Health Sciences, with a certification in acupuncture, as well as being certified in Kinesio® Tape from Kinesio® Tape Association International, and massage therapy from the Virginia School of Massage.  His areas of focus are muscle-skeletal, back-neck, and athletic-related concerns and health.

Dr. Karm is originally from the Arlington Heights area and has returned to practice in her home community after receiving her Doctorate in Chiropractic medicine with a certification in acupuncture from the National University of Health Sciences. Her areas of expertise and interest are women’s health and pediatrics.

ACCR utilizes the C.A.R.E. values of compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence in everyday practice.

Dr. Cress said what makes him most proud of his practice is the team’s commitment to providing every patient with a proactive treatment plan, efficient care, and the latest technology for achieving optimum results.

ACCR is an emerging healthcare partner establishing strong roots in the community through professional medical services as well as becoming a leader with their community service efforts.  

In 2012, the ACCR, an Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce member, was nominated for the Volunteer of the Year award.

An upcoming event sponsored in part by ACCR includes the first annual Color Blast 5K scheduled for Saturday August 10th in downtown Arlington Heights. All proceeds will benefit Clearbrook’s autism and developmental programs, who is also a partner in the event.
