Arlington Heights: Did you Get One of These Stickers On Your Car Tuesday?
A number of vehicles parked in Arlington Town Square received bright yellow or orange stickers on their driver's side windows Tuesday that threatened towing or impoundment of vehicles.
On Tuesday, several cars parked in Arlington Town Square Shopping Center were observed with bright yellow or orange stickers adhered to the driver's side windows that read:
VIOLATION This vehicle is parked illegally and is hereby subject to towing and impoundment. YOUR LICENSE NUMBER HAS BEEN RECORDED.Â
The notice did not contain a name, or entity stating who had placed them there. Â
A sign is located east of the Bath and Body Works front door, mounted in the brick facade - that states authorized vehicles only are permitted, and all others would be towed away at the owner's expense.Â
A logistical issue that could be highlighted in regards to the location of the sign, is that if motorists don't enter the shopping center off of Arlington Heights Road, or don't happen to shop near Bath and Body Works, it is not visible to all who park there. It also is partially hidden behind flowers and greenery. (as seen in the picture included with this article).
There are signs spaced throughout the parking lot that display a notice, "45 Minute Customer Parking" - though there are no signs that state vehicles that park beyond that time period will be towed or impounded.Â
Signs in windows of vacant retail spaces in Arlington Town Square list Edgemark as a contact, and the website www.edgemarkllc.com. The website states that in addition to commercial real estate brokerage and investment services focused on the retail industry - property management services also are provided.Â
When Arlington Heights Patch contacted Edgemark Tuesday afternoon, the individual who answered the phone acknowledged stickers were placed on vehicles that had been parked in the lot for more than two hours, and added that the action is within the private property owner's rights.  She said cars with stickers on them could be towed or impounded, though the towing company had not been called.Â
A message left by Arlington Heights Patch for Andy Patris, Edgemark associate vice president, to obtain clarification on whether there is a two-hour, or 45-minute parking time limit and the resulting penalties, was not immediately returned before end of business Tuesday.Â
