Police Issue Traffic Advisory for Arlington Park Fireworks

Motorists traveling in the area of Arlington International Racecourse on the evening of July 4th may experience traffic delays and road closures at night as a result of the venue’s annual fireworks show. 

Heavy traffic is expected to occur in the area as motorists and pedestrians arrive for, and then depart from the area following the event.  

In an effort to expedite safe traffic flow and help ensure motorist and pedestrian safety, the following road closures will take place during the evening prior to the conclusion of the event:

• S/B Wilke Road closed at Northwest Highway

• N/B Wilke Road closed at Euclid Avenue

Additionally, all vehicles exiting Arlington International Racecourse using the Wilke Road exit will be directed N/B on Wilke Road toward Northwest Highway in order to avoid conflict with other racecourse traffic using the Euclid Avenue exits.

Additional road closures or turning restrictions may be implemented depending on an ongoing evaluation of traffic patterns.

Authorized emergency vehicles will be permitted to travel through the indicated road closures, but may experience heavy congestion.
