Aurelio's In Arlington Heights To Close, Reopen As Breakfast Spot

The location's final day will be Sunday.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Aurelio's Pizza in Arlington Heights is shutting down after a little more than two years, the restaurant announced on its Facebook page. The location at 2944 W. Euclid Ave. will close its doors Sunday, and customers will have to travel to the restaurant in Addison to buy a slice from the chain.

Joe Aurelio, CEO and president of Aurelio's Pizza, told the Daily Herald that the investors of the Arlington Heights franchise weren't happy with the financial return on the location and wanted to go in a different direction that specializes in serving breakfast. One of the investors owns Sam's of Arlington, 1863 W. Central Road, and it was his idea to try the new approach, Aurelio said.

Customers were upset to hear about the closing, particularly former residents of the South Suburbs, where Aurelio's got its start in Homewood. Some fans of the restaurant also suggested the chain open a location either in Rolling Meadows, Rosemont or Des Plaines. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest Arlington Heights news. "For 2 1/2 years you've served the best pizza in Arlington Heights," wrote a commenter on the location's Facebook page. "Your 'zza will be missed … Rest In Pizza."

Aurelio's opened its Arlington Heights restaurant in June of 2015, and it was the chain's first location in the north suburbs. Outstanding gift cards can be redeemed at any of the other 41 Aurelio's location, including the restaurants in Addison, Geneva and Lagrange.
