Bike Through Arlington Heights During Community Bike Ride

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Get outside and enjoy a scenic bike ride through Arlington Heights Saturday, Sept. 7 during the Bike Arlington Heights Community Bike Ride. According to a release, the bike ride starts at 9:15 when riders depart from North School Park and go on a five-mile round trip loop to South Middle School. The ride then continues with a seven-mile round trip loop from North School Park to Thomas Middle School, starting at 10 a.m.
All rides start and end at North School Park, and if you're not able to ride to the park, there is car parking available in the North Garage, according to the release.
If you plan to participate in the community event, you'll have the option to complete both loops for a total of 12 miles, or either one individually, the release said. Route guidance will be provided from members of the Arlington Heights Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission and the Arlington Heights Police Department's bike patrol. The event also includes bicycle mechanical assistance, water and snacks, according to organizers.

The release also notes that all riders are asked to wear a helmet and to be familiar with the rules of the road, in addition to basic bicycle operation.

To show that safe routes exist for riding bicycles to local schools, the theme of Saturday's ride is "Ride to the Schools," the release said.
The main goals of the community bike ride are to encourage safe alternatives to driving for residents, community awareness, and health and fitness, the release said.
Don't forget to eat a good breakfast before the ride, wear a helmet, bring a water bottle, put on sunscreen and fill up your bike tires.
Those wanting to participate in Saturday's community bike ride should please register online by completing the adult form or minor form. Day-of registration opens at 8 a.m. Saturday.
