Coronavirus: Student Dresses As Easter Bunny For Neighborhood
A Hersey High School senior dressed up as the Easter Bunny on Sunday to lift children's spirits during the coronavirus pandemic.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Gov. J.B. Pritzker's stay-at-home order to reduce the spread of coronavirus caused the cancellation of many outdoor Easter-related activites on Sunday, including a neighborhood egg hunt in Arlington Heights. Hersey High School senior Genevieve Hill, however, was undeterred and volunteered to dress up as the Easter Bunny on Saturday and Sunday to deliver candy to children in her neighborhood and pose with families.
Carrie Hill, Genevieve's mother, said her neighborhood has been holding Easter egg hunts for at least 10 years and around 50 children typically participate. To keep that tradition alive, even under the emergency orders regarding outdoor activities put in effect as a result of the coronavirus, Hill said she and Genevieve discussed the possibility of Genevieve wearing a bunny suit around the neighborhood.
Genevieve said she always wanted to be a school mascot and thought it would be a fun idea. So on Saturday, Genevieve donned the bunny suit and delivered candy to neighborhood kids for about two hours. Children unable to leave their house had Easter baskets left on their driveway for Genevieve to deliver to.
