Harper College Debate Team Takes Third at State

The Harper College debate team is gearing up for the national competition in Los Angeles next week. 

Four members of the team won first place in various categories at the recent state competition. The team took third place overall, Harper College reports. First place finishers include: 

• Kate Fundarek of Hoffman Estates: Dramatic Interpretation
• Patrick Halprin of Hanover Park: Persuasion
• Elisa Galvan of Hoffman Estates: Extemporaneous Speaking
• Elissa Galvan and Brianna Bitout of Arlington Heights: Parliamentary Debate 

Coach Jeff Przybylo has helped Harper’s debate teams win top-10 rankings nationally for the last 11 years, the Daily Herald reports.
