Lightning Strikes Arlington Heights Townhouse: AHFD
Luckily, nobody was hurt in the lightning strike, which caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A lightning strike caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to an Arlington Heights townhouse Friday, according to the Arlington Heights Fire Department.
Deputy Chief Pete Ahlman told Patch the strike happened in the 1600 block of W. Hawkes Street soon after 11 a.m.
Investigators couldn't determine exactly where the lightning hit the building, but the strike caused "cosmetic damage to the drywall on an interior common hallway" in the townhouse, Ahlman told Patch.
