Men's Wearhouse Spokesman, Founder Out
The recognizable and arguably iconic phrase, "You're going to like the way you look, I guarantee it," was made a TV commercial standard by George Zimmer since 1986, who was fired as executive chairman of the company Wednesday.

You may like the way you look after buying a suit from Men's Wearhouse, but the founder and former spokesman of the company, George Zimmer, may not be guaranteeing it any longer.Â
Since 1986, Zimmer has been the face of the Men's Wearhouse, and made the promise, "You're going to like the way you look, I guarantee it."
The statement became recognizable for generations of people who saw him in the company's television commercials for nearly 30 years.Â
In a press release from Men's Wearhouse dated Wednesday, June 19, it states, "The Board of Directors of Men's Wearhouse (NYSE: MW) today announced that it has terminated George Zimmer from his position as Executive Chairman. The Board expects to discuss with Mr. Zimmer the extent, if any, and terms of his ongoing relationship with the Company."Â
In a response statement on Businesswire.com, Zimmer referenced the company he has built over the last 40 years, and gave a nod to the company's employees and loyal customers.
"Over the past several months I have expressed my concerns to the Board about the direction the company is currently heading. Instead of fostering the kind of dialogue in the Boardroom that has, in part, contributed to our success, the Board has inappropriately chosen to silence my concerns by terminating me as an executive officer," Zimmer said in the statement.Â
According to the Huffington Post, Zimmer stepped down as chief executive officer in 2011, and a business analyst from Stifel Nicolaus said Zimmer had difficulties letting go of the company's reigns.Â
The company, based in Fremont, California, has 1,143 stores in the United States, and includes the brands K&G Stores and Moores, the Huffington Post reported.Â
