Mount Prospect Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges In Shooting: PD

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL – A 19-year-old Mount Prospect man faces attempted murder charges after he was charged in connection with an incident that took place over the weekend, police announced on Tuesday.

James Alcantar was charged with two counts of attempted murder after police said that fired a gun at two men while running during an altercation in the 1700 block of Palm Drive, police said. Alcantar was arrested after police were called to a Rolling Meadows CVS store at 7:30 p.m. after a man entered the store with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Police made their way to an apartment building on Palm Drive, where they located Alcantar, who was taken into custody. During their investigation, police said they learned that Alcantar had threatened two men who were standing outside his apartment building.

Police said that Alcantar left the apartment building and began firing a gun in the direction of the men, one of whom was shot in the arm.

Alcantar appeared in court on Tuesday and was ordered held until Oct. 13, when he is scheduled to appear in court on the charges.
