Nearly 14 Pounds Of Pot Worth $125K Found In AHeights Home

The stash was uncovered by a task force executing a search warrant Tuesday at a 32-year-old Arlington Heights man's home, prosecutors said.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Police discovered nearly 14 pounds of marijuana, including a 13-pound brick wrapped in plastic, in the bedroom of an Arlington Heights while executing a search warrant Tuesday, according to the Daily Herald. David Trevino, 32, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and he was ordered held on $115,000 Thursday, the report stated.

According to prosecutors, the drug stash, which has an estimated street value of more than $125,000, was found Tuesday, Jan. 1 6, during a search of Trevino's home, the report stated. A wrapped marijuana brick weighing 5,856.5 grams was discovered in Trevino's bedroom, while 454 grams of the drug in prepackaged units were uncovered near a coffee table, the report added. Agents also seized 8 grams of pot that Trevino had in his waistband, the Herald reports.

Prosecutors said the task force confiscated 6,318.6 grams — about 13.93 pounds — of marijuana with an estimated value of $126,360 during the search, the report stated. If convicted of the felony drug charge he faces, Trevino, who also has a 2008 drug possession conviction in Michigan, could be sentenced up to 30 years in prison.

Before the search and arrest, Trevino was on bond stemming from leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving charges, the report stated. His bail for the drug charge was set at $100,000, and the additional $15,000 was for the previous traffic counts, the report added.
