Schaumburg Man Wielded Knife, Punched Hole In Wall In Fight: Cops

The 24-year-old man faces assault and property damage charges stemming from the incident Thursday.

PALATINE, IL — A Schaumburg man is accused of threatening another person with a knife after he allegedly punched a hole in a wall during a fight Thursday, according to Palatine police. Sava Koumandarakis, 24, of the 2200 block of Pennyview Lane was charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage to property — both misdemeanors — stemming from the incident.

Officers responded to the report of a fight just after midnight Thursday, July 26, in the 800 block of West Panorama Drive, police said. No details were given concerning the cause of the fight, and Koumandarakis was at the scene when police arrived.

An investigation by officers determined Koumandarakis had allegedly brandished a large knife and threatened to cut the other person, authorities said. He also was accused of punching a hole in a wall at the scene, police added.
