Wallet Dropped During Walk, Later Stolen: Arlington Heights PD

The Arlington Heights Police Department responded to various reports of theft and other crime in recent weeks.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department responded to several reports of criminal damage to property in recent weeks. Among those reports was a retail theft incident reported at Binny's Beverage Depot, located in the 0-100 block of W. Rand Road. According to police, two unknown female offenders hid merchandise for sale on themselves before leaving the store without paying for the items, between 2:42 p.m. and 2:47 p.m., Sept. 28.

According to police, the first offender was described as black female, approximately 5’11” tall, 250 pounds, and was reportedly wearing a white shirt, black pants, and a black jacket. Police said the second offender was described as a black female, approximately 5’09” tall, 150 pounds, and was reportedly wearing blue jeans and a red and black sweater.

The total retail value of the merchandise is approximately $42.99, police reported.

Theft:

According to police, an unknown offender or offenders took a female victim’s wallet after the victim accidentally dropped her wallet while on a walk around a neighborhood in the 300 block of E. Waverly Road, on Oct. 13. The credit cards in the victim’s wallet were later used fraudulently, according to police.

A suspect was identified via security footage at the store where the cards were used fraudulently, and is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, 5’10” tall, 190 pounds, with a chinstrap style beard, brown hair, and was wearing a gray jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, and a gray skull cap, police reported.

Criminal damage to vehicle:

According to police, an unknown offender or offenders damaged a victim’s vehicle while it was parked at the victim’s home in the 400 block of W. University Drive, between 3 p.m., Oct. 10 and 12:30 a.m., Oct. 11. The vehicle was damaged in the form of scratches caused by a sharp object (possibly a key) along the driver’s side, police reported

In a separate incident, police said an unknown offender or offenders damaged a victim's car while it was parked in an apartment complex parking lot in the 0-100 block of N. Dryden Avenue, between 3 p.m., Oct. 12 and 1:30 p.m., Oct. 13. According to police, the car's rear driver’s side tire was flat and appears to have been slashed by an unknown sharp object.

Police add that callers are guaranteed anonymity and may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
