Woman Killed In Fall From Arlington Heights Apartment Balcony
The woman was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights where she was pronounced dead, according to police.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department said a woman died after falling from a Hancock Square Apartments balcony Thursday afternoon. According to a release from the police department, officers and paramedics responded at about 1:56 p.m. to a report of a woman falling from a balcony at the apartment complex, located in the 200 block of N. Arlington Height Road. Police said initial calls claimed the woman was unconscious in the back of the courtyard near a pool.
According to the release, Arlington Heights officers and paramedics provided emergency medical attention to the woman, who has since been identified as a 65-year-old who lived alone at the apartment complex. She was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights by paramedics, but couldn't be resuscitated, and was pronounced dead, police said.
At this point in the investigation at the complex, officers determined the woman victim fell from the balcony of her apartment, landing approximately 57 feet below her suite in the complex's courtyard, according to police. Police added that the woman's balcony was in good condition, with no signs of damage, and proper handrails in place.

The cause of the fall is unknown, and police said they don't have any reason to believe it was a criminal act, as there's no suspicious of foul play. However, case is still being investigated with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office,
No one else was injured at the complex, and the courtyard will stay closed until Aug. 30, according to the management's decision, police said.
