109-Year Prison Term For Aurora Man Guilty Of Child Sex Abuse, Porn

The 54-year-old is required to serve at least 50 percent of his sentence and is eligible for day-for-day sentencing, officials said.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man was sentenced to 109 years in prison after he sexually abused and manufactured pornography of a boy who was 13 years old at the time, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Judge David Kliment found Ronald J. Lye, 54, guilty in January of was found guilty of 14 counts of manufacturing child pornography, 18 counts of possessing child pornography, and 12 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in relation to abuse that occurred between April 1 and May 7, 2020.

Lye drove to the victim's home, picked up the boy, a 13-year-old whom he met on a social media app, and drove him to his Aurora residence where he recorded the sexual contact, Assistant State's Attorneys Lori Schmidt and Morgan Wilkinson shared in court. The man waived his right to a jury trial.

Prosecutors originally said Lye faced a prison term of 81 years.

With his sentence, Lye is eligible for day-for-day sentencing and must serve at least 50 percent of his sentence. He was credited for the 31 days served in the Kane County jail. In addition to the prison term, Lye must also register for life as a sexual offender.

"This sentence will not make the victim whole, but ensures Ronald J. Lye will be locked behind bars for a very long time and he will be unable to prey on children," Wilkinson said in a statement Tuesday.
