3 Aurora Shops Didn't Card Underage Buyers In Undercover Sting: PD

Of the nine businesses evaluated, six successfully carded the undercover cadets, officials said.

AURORA, IL — Three local businesses are due in court after they were found selling alcohol and tobacco products to people under 21, Aurora police said.

Cadets, who were all underage, visited nine businesses early last week as part of the Aurora Police Department's ongoing effort to ensure alcohol and tobacco products aren't sold to underage buyers.

Employees at six stores complied, but three failed.

Police issued notices to appear to the following businesses:

  • One Puff Tobacco Shop, 1261 N. Lake St. (Tobacco violation)
  • Joe's Tobacco and Vape, 1945 W. Galena Blvd. (Tobacco violation)
  • Royal Food and Liquor, 335 E. Indian Trail (Alcohol violation)

"Ensuring that alcohol and tobacco are not sold to underage individuals is essential for community safety and compliance with the law," Special Operations Group Lieutenant Christopher McWilliams said in a statement. "The Aurora Police Department will continue to conduct unannounced compliance checks to hold businesses accountable and protect our youth."

These businesses complied:

  • Randall Liquors Lake St., 719 N. Lake St.
  • Dragon Smoke and Vape, 1048 N. Farnsworth Ave.
  • La Villita Liquors, 1415 E. New York St.
  • Amoco Gas Station, 2112 Ogden Ave.
  • Green Smoke Vape and Tobacco, 444 N. Eola Road
  • 7-Eleven, 1202 N. Eola Road
