46 National Merit Semifinalists Named In District 204

AURORA, IL — Forty-six students in District 204 have been named as National Merit Scholarship Program finalists.

In a news release on Thursday, the district announced its finalists come from Metea Valley, Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley high schools. They'll now have the chance to compete for one of some 7,600 scholarships totaling over $30 million.

All told, around 16,000 semifinalists were named across the country. Of those, about 90 percent are expected to make it to the finalist round of considerations, according to the release.

Scholarships are distributed on the basis of skills, accomplishments and success in college.
