APD Launches St. Patrick's Day Enforcement Campaign
Aurora police will participate in a statewide effort to "keep roads safe during one of the most celebrated drinking holidays of the year."
AURORA, IL — The Aurora Police Department is launching an enforcement campaign targeting impaired and dangerous driving ahead of St. Patrick's Day.
From March 7-18, police will participate in the statewide effort to "keep roads safe during one of the most celebrated drinking holidays of the year." St. Patrick's Day falls on Monday, March 17.
The Aurora Police Department is joining the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police and local law enforcement agencies to conduct roadside safety checks, seat belt enforcement zones and saturation patrols. The campaign also emphasizes the "Click It or Ticket" initiative to remind drivers to buckle up for every trip.

"Our priority is to ensure that everyone gets home safely," Chief of Police Keith Cross said in a statement. "If you plan to celebrate with alcohol, make a plan for a sober ride home. Waiting until after you’re impaired is too late—arrange for a designated driver, use a rideshare service, or take public transportation."
