AURORA, IL — An Aurora man accused of trafficking an 18-year-old across state lines for prostitution was denied pretrial release over the weekend, according to authorities.

Christopher Munger, 43, of the 100 block of North Gregory Street, appeared in court Saturday on charges of human trafficking, promoting prostitution and two counts of involuntary servitude, authorities said.

Aurora police received a tip Nov. 22 about online advertisements for prostitution in the city, according to authorities. Undercover officers went to Munger's address Wednesday under the guise of meeting for sex acts and paid the teen $400, which she slid under a door in the home and which was picked up by Munger, who was taken into custody, authorities said.

Munger met the teen online and drove to West Virginia to bring her to Aurora, according to authorities, who said she had no family in West Virginia but was reported missing when she did not return to her group home.

“The charges against Mr. Munger are appalling,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release. “The alleged exploitation of this young woman, whom he allegedly brought from her home to a place where she knew no one and forced her into the sex for his own monetary gain, should send a chill down the spine of each and every one of us.”
