Aurora To Remember 9/11 Tragedy With Virtual Ceremony
The ceremony will begin at 8:40 a.m. on Friday.
AURORA, IL — The City of Aurora this Friday will remember the September 11 tragedy on its 19th anniversary.
In a ceremony streamed live on Facebook and on the city's website, members of Aurora's police and fire departments will join Mayor Richard C. Irvin to honor the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks with a presentation of colors and wreath laying ceremony.
Remarks will be provided by Aurora Police Chief Kristen Ziman, Aurora Fire Chief Gary Krienitz and Irvin.

The city's ceremony will pause for a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. — the moment when the first plane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York.
"On this solemn occasion, we will come together again to remember those who lost their lives on that fateful day,"said Irvin, a U.S. Army veteran. "We also remember the families of those who perished and all whose lives were forever changed after experiencing the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001."
