Man Fatally Shot During 'Family Dispute,' Aurora Police Say

Police found the man in the basement of a home on Illinois Avenue.

AURORA, IL — A man was fatally shot early Monday morning in what Aurora Police described as "a family dispute."

Police said a 911 call came in around 1:40 a.m. reporting a person shot inside a home in the 1800 block of West Illinois Avenue.

Police and paramedics responded to the home and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound in the basement of the home. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, and succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving measures by paramedics and emergency room staff, police said.

Police began an investigation at the scene of the shooting and canvassed the neighborhood for information and determined that two family members were arguing when a suspect fired a gun, hitting the man.

Police did not provide any additional information on the suspect.
