Two Tomcats Become Student Board Of Education Members
The East Aurora High School seniors will be student representatives for the 2020-2021 school year.
AURORA — Two East Aurora High School seniors took an oath Tuesday to become student members of the board of education. The seniors will serve as student representatives to the board for the 2020-2021 school year.
In a news release, the school said senior Tomcats Abigail Callinan and Moises Jimenez will begin serving on the board at meetings on Sept. 21. The students will act in an advisory role and will not have a vote on the board.
Student members offer the board of education an inside perspective and offer the board information about student activities. They also report back to the high school's student leadership teams on behalf of the board.

Callinan is described by her teachers as: “Great work ethic. High quality communication skills. Well on her way to becoming an outstandingly successful future leader.”
She is a member of the volleyball team, Upward Bound, EA Ambassadors, the Math Honors Society and the National Honors Society.

She said she is “passionate and dedicated to work for something larger” than herself and “ready to help create a positive impact.”
Jimenez is described by French teacher Sarah Birdsall Kulick as “a student who loves to learn. He is not afraid to ask questions or clarify difficult concepts, and is always eager to help his peers. He is reliable, responsible, and a true joy to teach.”
He is involved in NJROTC and was a co-captain fo the J-LAB Academic Team. He's also a member of honors societies for French, Math, Science and the NHS. He's national vice-president of the Boys to Men organization.
