$13,500 Donated to READability Program
Organization seeks an additional $13,500 to help children overcome reading challenges.

The District 220 Educational Foundation proudly introduces its new “READability” program.
Some students struggle each day to make reading "work" for them. But words can move, change shape or appearance, or run together. While Barrington 220 offers a range of tools for students with reading challenges, the technology boom has given birth to an array of new devices that can help special-needs readers overcome their specific challenges and read along with their peers.

A generous donor in the community has pledged half of the roughly $27,000 required to enhance District 220’s assistive technology for special needs readers. The Educational Foundation has agreed to reach out to the community to raise the remaining funds, to ensure that each school in the district (K- 12) receives at least one set of the devices.
Members of the community can join the challenge by visiting the Foundation website at www.220foundation.org and clicking on “READability.” The website contains details of the assistive technology purchases, tallies as to the progress of each school, and links to donate.
