25-Year-Old Emily Young Elected To Barrington Village Board
As of Wednesday afternoon, April 3, the unofficial results from Cook County and Lake County show Young brought in 1,243 votes.

BARRINGTON, IL — A 25-year-old woman was elected to Barrington village board Tuesday. First-time candidate Emily Young has resided in Barrington for the last two years after graduating from Northwestern University, according to her campaign website. Now, Young resides on the village board as the group's youngest member, finishing in the top three in a four-candidate race, according to unofficial election results.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the unofficial results from Cook County and Lake County show Young brought in 1,243 votes, following incumbent Jason Lohmeyer with 1,290, and Kate Duncan with 1,306 votes.
According to her campaign website, Young was born in Streamwood, where she's served on the National Resource Conservancy Commission. She graduated from Northwestern with a degree in History, and serves as the Resource Development and Communications Manager at Impact Behavioral Health Partners. She spends time outside of work as a certified Pilates instructor, and is a passionate animal advocate and volunteers with Fur Keeps Animal Shelter, Cinderella’s Hope Rescue and Adopt a River Cat, according to her campaign website.

"Emily is focused on spreading awareness about mental health concerns, such as opioid dependence and developing environment policy that includes maintaining green space and humanely managing local animal populations," her website states.

Young is also focused on growing Barrington's small business community and improving connectivity through Barrington's ability to be more pedestrian-friendly.
