Donate blood, get free ice cream
Barrington student and his family are hosting a bone marrow registry on Saturday.

Carter Bailey began feeling pain in his hip, groin and lower back when he was a high school senior in 2014. He was later diagnosed with leukemia and missed what would have been his first year in college, according to the Daily Herald.
Blood cancer patients, like Bailey, need a donation from someone who is a genetic match. Expanding the bone marrow registry will mean that leukemia patients will have a better chance at finding a donor who can save their life. Bailey is now a sophomore at Indiana University, but he needed a large amount of blood and bone marrow to recover from the cancer.
Bailey and his family are hosting a blood and bone marrow registry drive as a way to give back after receiving much needed blood and marrow donations from strangers.
