SweetPea Cakes to Close Barrington Store

Boxes are being packed away at a well-known bakery on Cook Street tonight.

SweetPea Cakes has decided to close its Barrington location effective Saturday, an employee of the store said. The store’s owner Carrie Curie did not want to comment on the closure, but an employee said the decision was made to consolidate business with the Crystal Lake location.

SweetPea Cakes opened in Barrington November of 2010. Curie opened the original SweetPea Cakes store in Crystal Lake in January of 2010.

This isn’t the first business to shut its doors in Barrington recently. Greek restaurant Kyriaki, clothing store Peter Daniel and toy store Learning Express are among some of the recent closures.
