Drivers Will Face Daily Lane Closures During Route 31 Storm Sewer Work

Construction on the storm sewer separation project starts on Thursday. Read on for details about which streets you may want to avoid.

BATAVIA, IL - Starting Thursday, drivers should plan to avoid areas where daily road closures will be in effect to make way for local sewer maintenance.

Work on the storm sewer separation project at Route 31 and Elm Street will begin Thursday, June 29, according to a community update. The construction will spur daily lane closures between Walnut and Main streets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"The contractor is anticipating the work in the intersection only taking two days, Thursday and Friday," the city of Batavia alert said. "Then, (workers) will move to Elm Street for completion of the project."

Work on Elm Street will start mid-block between Route 31 and Jefferson, continuing up until the Jefferson intersection. All residents will be notified prior to construction.
