Ahead of the race, Batavia police are asking drivers to be aware of road closures, congestion and temporary roadblocks. Houston Street, between Island Avenue and Route 31, will be fully closed during the race's runtime.

Drivers should be prepared to encounter increased pedestrian traffic as runners share the road with cars on the four-mile race route, police said. Between 6:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., runners will be on several roads in the city, including the following:

  • Route 31
  • Houston Street
  • Island Avenue
  • North Van Nortwick Avenue
  • North Avenue
  • McKee Street

A full map of the race route can be found here. Each roadway intersection will be monitored by public safety employees and race volunteers, the police department said in a news release Friday.

Residents and guests wanting to participate in the tradition have until Tuesday to register for the race. The fee to enter the four-mile run is $40 plus a food donation, and it costs $15 plus a food donation for the youth mile race.
