Free COVID-19 Saliva Testing Coming To Kane Vax Hub

The Kane County Health Department is teaming up with SHIELD Illinois to provide the free testing option in town.

BATAVIA, IL — Saliva testing for COVID-19 is now available at the Kane Vax Hub in Batavia, officials announced Friday.

The Kane County Health Department is partnering with SHIELD Illinois — an initaitve by University of Illinois — to offer the free non-invasive test. Testing will be available at Kane Vax Hub, located at 501 N. Randall Road in Batavia, from 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Friday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Visitors are asked not to eat or drink anything in the hour before testing. It will take between 24 to 48 hours for confidential results to come in, officials said.

While walk-ins are welcome, staff are encouraging people to pre-register, which can be done online.
