BATAVIA, IL — A week after announcing Batavia's Kane Vax Hub would close in early January, officials at the Kendall County Health Department said its operation would be extended through January.

"I'm pleased that the Kane County Vax center will continue its operations through the end of January and grateful for the assistance from IEMA and the State of Illinois to provide vaccinations for our citizens," Kane County Board Chairwoman Corinne Pierog said in a statement Thursday. "The Kane County Board is fully committed to ensuring the site is easily accessible and encourages individuals and families to utilize it as the pandemic surges."

The KCHD originally announced the site's shuttering Dec. 9 but said a day after that its operations would be reassessed based on public input, Patch reported.
