The most pressing issues facing Batavia are _______, and this is what I intend to do about them. Housing costs and accessibility. In Batavia we have a "missing middle" problem. Attainable housing for new families just entering the home ownership market is hard to come by. This is a complex and long term problem that will require public, private, and non-profit action. I hope to help bring those three pillars of our community together to open up the housing market to new families and diverse populations.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post? I am running unopposed.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)? I am running unopposed.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform. I believe in fully informed decision making. To that end I intend to engage with my fellow Aldermen, city staff, and the public to see all sides of an issue. I will ask questions in meetings and explain my vote on controversial issues as the vote is being taken.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job? I have been a mediator for over 13 years. I currently mediate high conflict parentage cases. I am trained in collaboration and problem solving and do it daily in very high conflict situations. Those skills translate well to public service. Patience, empathy, and collaboration. I will continue to bring those skills to the council chambers.

Why should voters trust you? I will be open and honest in my decision making process. I will answer emails and phone calls. Voters will see my actions follow my words.

If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office a success? A vibrant community.

What are your views on fiscal policy, government spending and the handling of taxpayer dollars in the office you are seeking? Aldermen have a responsibility to use funds effectively and efficiently. City council also cannot be afraid to spend money when it is important to do so. Walking that line is a challenge and one I am eager to tackle.

What are your thoughts on the crime rate in your community, and what more can be done to combat crime — especially violent crime — in town? Batavia is a fairly safe town. Our current approach is working. Diversifying our response capabilities will help. Supporting the move to include trained social workers working along side the police department will help us provide a safe and effective response to difficult situations.

What is your view of the village's approach to commercial and residential development? On the residential side I would like to see a greater emphasis on entry level housing. That can include higher density, smaller single family homes, and other creative solutions. From a commercial perspective, providing businesses the opportunity to open shop, and ensuring our licensing and code frameworks are accessible and provided at the lowest reasonable rate, while maintaining a high level of service.

When it comes to development, what are some key areas for improvement or additions you feel are most wanted by residents? What will need to be done to make this happen? Bike and pedestrian access to key shopping centers. Continuing with the strategic plan currently in place will help residents of all types better access our businesses and services.

Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office, other than those of health or family? None that come to mind.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions? No response.
