Public Parking Now Allowed Friday, Saturday Nights At Batavia Library

The city also announced special overnight parking rules for Thanksgiving weekend.

BATAVIA, IL — Public parking is now allowed Friday and Saturday nights at the Batavia Public Library, city officials announced.

The Batavia City Council approved an agreement with the library, allowing drivers to park their cars in the lot at 10 S. Batavia Ave. from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Friday and Saturday. The new agreement went into effect Nov. 22.

Alderpersons voted in favor of the agreement to support patrons of businesses along Route 31 and downtown Batavia, according to a news release.

Vehicles left outside the weekend hours or the library's regular hours may be towed, officials said.

With Thanksgiving weekend just days away, city officials also announced temporary changes to overnight parking rules.

From Nov. 27-30, the city will suspend its overnight parking ordinance enforcement. But if it snows over Thanksgiving and snowfall exceeds 2 inches, on-street parking will not be permitted, per city rules.

Regular enforcement will resume Monday morning.
