Smoldering Squirrel's Nest Damages Batavia Home

A home in the 1200 block of Newton Avenue sustained $3,200 damage Saturday afternoon, after a fire caused by a smoldering squirrel’s nest, the Chicago SunTimes is reporting.

Firefighters were called out to the home at 1:24 p.m.

“Firefighters found a squirrel nest burning inside a power attic vent, damaging the roof, wiring and gutters of the home, fire officials said,” The Chicago SunTimes reported. “It was extinguished by 1:40 p.m.”
