Taylor Swift-Themed Lantern Walk Planned In Batavia

BATAVIA, IL — The Showgirl Lantern Walk in Batavia will be all about finding clues, something most fans of Taylor Swift — serving as this year's theme — are well-versed in by now.

A nod to the newest album, "The Life of a Showgirl," announced by arguably the world's most well-known musician, the Batavia MainStreet-organized event is planned from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 3 in downtown Batavia.

"The Lantern Walk is all about creating community connections in a fun and magical way," Kristen Desler, assistant director of Batavia MainStreet, said in a statement. "Pairing the glow of lanterns with the energy of Taylor Swift fandom and the creativity of our local businesses makes for an evening that's truly unforgettable."

Event-goers can start their stroll at any one of the participating businesses, then follow glowing orange lanterns to the next stop.

Hidden throughout downtown Batavia will be lyrical clues, and the mission is to spot them and match each to one of its songs. By completing the scavenger hunt cards, guests will be entered into raffles to win one of several baskets filled with prizes donated by merchants.

Completed cards should be dropped off at either Bocaditos Cafe or Wilson Street Mercantile.

Non-Swifties shouldn't be shy about participating in the event, organizers said — the evening will be about blending music, shopping and community spirit.
