2-Year-Old Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle Backing Out Of Driveway: Bolingbrook Police

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A 2-year-old has died after they were struck by a vehicle backing out of a driveway in Bolingbrook, Bolingbrook Police said in a news release.

Officers responded at 1:53 p.m. April 27 on Grand Canyon Drive for a report of a child who had been struck by a vehicle, police said. Officers gave emergency medical assistance until being relieved by paramedics from the Bolingbrook Fire Department.

The child was taken to a local hospital and remained in critical condition, police said. On Wednesday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office told police the child had died from their injuries.

This incident is being investigated by the Bolingbrook Police Department’s Traffic Unit.

"This is a tragic incident for everyone involved," police said in the release.
