2nd Person Facing Murder Charges In 2024 Shooting Death Of Bolingbrook Man

Mark Bell, 29, of Chicago, was arrested Monday by the Will County Fugitive Warrants Unit, police said.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A second person has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the May 2024 shooting death of 38-year-old Terrell Johnson, according to Bolingbrook Police.

Mark Bell, 29, of Chicago, was arrested Monday by the Will County Fugitive Warrants Unit, police said. Bell was taken into custody in Chicago on a Will County Arrest Warrant and brought to the Bolingbrook Police Department for processing, before being taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility to await court proceedings.

Bell is facing charges of three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of home invasion, attempted armed robbery, attempted residential burglary, attempted robbery, attempted burglary and criminal trespass to residence.

Police said Bell joins co-defendant Carla Williams, of Georgia, who remains in custody following her July 2024 arrest for her involvement in this case. Williams is facing similar charges of first-degree murder, home invasion, armed robbery, robbery, burglary, residential burglary and criminal trespassing.

Both arrests stem from a May 16, 2024, incident on Preston Drive in Bolingbrook. Police said officers responded at 8:29 p.m. for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man, now identified as Johnson, with apparent gunshot wounds.

Officers began giving medical aid, and paramedics soon took over life-saving measures and took Johnson to an area hospital for treatment, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

At the time of the incident in May 2024, police said that no suspects had been located, but police believed the incident was not a random act.

"Chief Mike Rompa thanks the Will County Fugitive Warrants Unit for their assistance in bringing Bell into custody. Additionally, Chief Rompa commends our detective unit for their tireless efforts to find justice for Mr. Johnson," police said in a news release.
