$400K Lottery Ticket Sold at Bolingbrook Grocery Store

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A lucky shopper at a Bolingbrook grocery store turned a $5 lottery purchase into a pre-holiday $400 payday after hitting it big on a scratch-off ticket, lottery officials announced on Wednesday.

The shopper purchased the winning Gold Standard lottery ticket at Tony's Fresh Market at 271 S. Bolingbrook Dr. As a reward for selling the ticket at the store, owners of the market will receive a $4,000 bonus, which represents 1 percent of the jackpot.

So far in 2023, more than 63 million Illinois Lottery Instant Tickets were sold, winning almost $1.4 billion in prizes.

The Illinois Lottery currently offers more than 50 different Instant Ticket games at more than 7,000 retail locations across Illinois.

Winners have a year to claim their prizes. The Illinois Lottery recently announced that more than $4 million in lottery winnings remain unclaimed from this year. The winners have until the middle of 2024 to come forward to collect their winnings.
