5 Bolingbrook Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

BOLINGBROOK, IL — If you’re like many of your Bolingbrook neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.
Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Bolingbrook area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
1. West Suburban Community Pantry, 6809 Hobson Valley Drive, Suite 118, Woodridge. Serves over 110,000 people in DuPage and Will County, provides food assistance and resources for those in need. Donation hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

2. United Way of Will County, 54 N. Ottawa St., Suite 300, Joliet. Serves all of Will County; the mission is to fight for "the economic mobility, education, and health and wellness of every person in Will County."
3. Heart Haven OutReach, 201 Canterbury Lane, Suite C, in Bolingbrook. Serves middle and high school teens in Bolingbrook and Romeoville, who are experiencing challenging times.
4. Guardian Angel Community Services, 168 N. Ottawa St., Joliet. Offers an Exchange Club center, foster care, partner abuse intervention program, sexual assault service center and several other programs.
5. Operation Christmas Bolingbrook. Makes the holiday season brighter for families in need by providing food and gifts. The nonprofit operates year-round.
