5 Candidates Face Off For 3 Bolingbrook Village Trustee Positions

BOLINGBROOK, IL — In the consolidated election on Tuesday, five candidates are vying for three Trustee positions for the Village of Bolingbrook.

The five candidates are:

• Michael Carpanzano
• Jean Kelly
• Jose Quintero
• Matthew Glowiak
• Sheldon Watts

Carpanzano, Kelly and Quintero are running as the First Party for Bolingbrook slate.

Carpanzano and Kelly currently serve on the Bolingbrook Village Board. Carpanzano is seeking his second term as Trustee after he was elected in 2019.

In his candidate questionnaire with Patch, he wrote that voters should trust him because, "I have a proven history of personal connection with residents, being overly accessible, and incredibly genuine."

Kelly was appointed as Trustee in 2022, and previously served as DuPage Township Assessor. In her candidate questionnaire, she wrote that her experience in local government and community involvement sets her apart from the other candidates.

"This gives me a unique perspective in the various ways residents can receive services from the various agencies and enables me to assist them more efficiently," she said.

Quintero currently serves as a commissioner on the Village's Zoning Board of Appeals. When asked why voters should trust him, he said, "I have been very open about my commitment to serving our community and willingness to listen and learn ways to be a better public servant. I believe my actions and approach should encourage trust in me to serve our community."

Watts and Glowiak are running as the Bolingbrook Independent Voices slate. Watts currently serves as a trustee on the Board. He was appointed in 2017, elected in 2019, and has also served as a DuPage Township Trustee. Watts was also named Bolingbrook's male citizen of the year in 2014, and is a community advocate and supporter of the youth.

Glowiak, who has a doctorate in counselor education and supervision, has worked in the mental health field for decades.

"I have built my life, both personally and professionally, on integrity. My reputation is such that I maintain that of which should be held confidential, provide informed information, and am empathic through all I do," he said in his candidate questionnaire.

Polls will open across Will County at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, and will close at 7 p.m. Election results will remain unofficial until April 25 when the Will County Clerk's Office finishes counting vote by mail ballots and provisional ballots.
