3 Brooks Middle School Staffers On Leave Amid Misconduct Allegations: VVSD

Police said they received information that a staff member at Brooks had been communicating inappropriately with a 14-year-old student.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Bolingbrook Police Department and Valley View School District are investigating after police said they received information that a staff member at Brooks Middle School had been communicating inappropriately with a 14-year-old, who is a former Brooks student.

Now, three staff members at the school have been placed on administrative leave, the district said.

Police said they received information about the "alleged misconduct" involving a staff member on April 8, and that detectives, school resource officers, and Valley View School District Administration quickly identified the involved parties and put a safety plan into place.

On Friday, Valley View School District issued a statement that said that the resulting investigation found that two additional staff members were involved in inappropriate conduct toward the student. The District said those staff members have also been placed on administrative leave.

The District has scheduled a special meeting on Monday, and the Board will vote on the administrative recommendation to terminate the employment of those involved.

"The Valley View School District has worked collaboratively with our department to ensure the safety of their staff and student population while this investigation remains ongoing," Bolingbrook Police said.

No charges have been filed in this case to date, police said. The incident remains under investigation and detectives are in communication with the involved families, the Valley View School District, and the Will County State's Attorney's Office.
