12 VVSD Mathletes Qualify For State Finals

and high school each qualified three individuals and BHS qualified two teams for the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics state finals with strong regional performances Saturday.

Bolingbrook’s Sandeep Bharadwaj finished first in both Oral Presentation and Written Algebra 2 in Class 4AA, making it to state for the third straight year. Bharadwaj was also a part of the Algebra 2 team that finished first at regionals. Other team members were Brian Parro, Billy Stob, Andrew Limthongviratn, Nneka Onyejiaka and Jihad Yaghi.

The BHS Calculator Team also took a first. Team members are Danny Mangala, Olamide Olatunde, Limthongviratn, Yaghi and Andrew Nordbye.

Romeoville seniors Anh Dang and Pawel Fudala took first place in the Class 3AA Oral Competition. Freshman Cole Brooker took second in the Algebra Competition.

The state finals will be May 5 in Champaign.
