Ex-Bolingbrook Music Teacher Booked On Battery Charges Amid Misconduct Investigation

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A former music teacher at Bolingbrook's Brooks Middle School turned himself in Saturday on battery charges after an investigation into allegations of misconduct, Bolingbrook Police said in a news release.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Brian Finn, 61, of Lockport, for two counts of battery. On Saturday, police said he reported to the Bolingbrook Police Department, where he was booked and released on his own recognizance.

He is due on court June 4, police said.

The charges come after a report was taken on April 8, alleging that Finn had engaged in inappropriate communication with a 14-year-old Valley View School District student, police said.

Finn was terminated from his position at the school earlier this month, along with two other staff members. The employees were first placed on administrative leave, until an internal investigation from Valley View School District revealed instances of inappropriate conduct with a student and violations of VVSD Board polices, the District said previously.

No criminal charges have been filed against the other two employees, police said.

"The warrant states that Brian Finn knowingly without legal justification by any means made physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with the minor," police said in a release.
