Bolingbrook Plans Annual Arbor Day Celebration

A tree planting ceremony and festival are part of the Arbor Day celebration.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Spring is here, and that means the Village of Bolingbrook is planning its annual Arbor Day celebration on April 26.

Hosted by the Special Events Commission, the event kicks off with a tree planting ceremony at 10 a.m. at Jerry Hix Park, 502 Golden Star Drive; followed by a festival in front of Town Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The festival will feature free hot dogs and water (while supplies last), games, prizes, drawings, expert planting advice, tree giveaways and a community shred event, according to event organizers.

There is also an Arbor Day coloring contest, which is limited to Bolingbrook residents only. You can submit your coloring to Annerino Community Center, 201 Recreation Drive; Fountaindale Library, 300 W. Briarcliff; or BRAC, 200 Lindsey Lane.

According to the Village, there are four age categories; 3-5, 6-8, 9-13 and 14-18. Winners will be asked to participate in the tree planting on April 26. Entries are due April 13.
