Bolingbrook Police Increase Firework Enforcement For July 4th

Fireworks related calls for service can quickly deplete public safety resources and police officer availability, police said.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Bolingbrook Police Department is increasing its proactive efforts in advance of the July 4th holiday with the goal of reducing firework related injuries and property damage, according to a release from the department.

"Our officers strive to gain voluntary compliance with both state and local fireworks laws," the department said. "If compliance cannot be gained, officers will issue citations or make arrests as situations warrant."

Police are asking residents to find safer alternatives to illegal fireworks, like glow sticks, confetti poppers or colored streamers; and head out to enjoy the Village's professional fireworks show on July 4.
