Bolingbrook Police Launch Child Passenger Safety Enforcement Campaign
The campaign, which started Sept. 19, will increase traffic enforcement aimed at ensuring that children are properly restrained in vehicles.
BOLINGBROOK, IL — In recognition of the upcoming National Child Passenger Safety Week, the Bolingbrook Police Department will conduct an enforcement campaign dedicated to ensuring child passenger safety throughout the community, according to a news release.
The campaign, which started Sept. 19, will increase traffic enforcement aimed at ensuring that children are properly restrained in vehicles using appropriate car seats, booster seats and seat belts. Officers will conduct targeted patrols to identify violations involving child safety seat misuse, lack of restraint, or incorrect seat type for a child’s age/size.
"Our goal is simple: protect our youngest passengers. We’re urging all parents and caregivers to double-check that their children are in the correct car seat for their age, height, and weight—and that it’s installed properly," police said in a news release.

Officers will also be enforcing seat belt laws as part of the “Click It or Ticket” initiative.
"Buckling up is the most effective way to prevent serious injury or death in a crash. Everyone in the vehicle — front seat or back — should be properly buckled, every trip," police said.
