Bolingbrook Police To Take Back Unused, Expired Prescriptions At Event

The Take Back event allows residents to safely dispose of prescriptions, creams, ointments, and other drugs April 30 at police headquarters.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Local residents who have unused prescription drugs around their homes will have the opportunity to safely dispose of them at an event sponsored by the Bolingbrook Police Department later this month.

The police department will host a Prescription Drug Take Back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 30 at the department’s headquarters at 375 N. Briarcliffe Rd., officials announced on Wednesday.

Expired and unused prescription drugs are a public safety issue, police said, and can lead to accidental overdoses, poisoning, and drug abuse. Prescription drugs that are flushed down the toilet can also contaminate area lakes, streams, and groundwater which causes damage to people, animals, and local vegetation.
